Arsenal vs Liverpool
Over the last few seasons, this fixture has been awash with goals, this match could be another in the series. Both teams are attacking with suspect defenses as the scoreline normally reflects. The Gunners have been good at home, but they face a Liverpool side that now has a BPL away record, being the only team to win four consecutive away games by scoring at least three goals. They will seek to make it five on the trot and should fancy their chances of such.
Everton vs Chelsea
An Everton team on the rise will face an acid test at home when they match wits with the current champions, Chelsea. Having being denied Christmas celebrations, The Toffees will want to prove to Big Sam that they have earned themselves a New Year’s celebration. Antonio Conte’s side should have a bit more quality to edge this fixture though.
Brighton vs Watford
Watford has been on a downward spiral and will try to buck their losing trend when they face a resilient Brighton away. A draw seems the likely result, which should be satisfying to both teams all things being considered.
Manchester City vs Bournemouth
City will try to round off the midway point of the season with another victory to extend their BPL-record win streak to 17. A win against Bournemouth seems the likely result. A loss to Eddie Howe’s side could see them slide back into the bottom three.
Southampton vs Huddersfield
Each week football fans are left to wonder which Southampton team will turn up. They will seek to round off the halfway stage of the season with a home win against a steady Huddersfield.
Stoke City vs West Brom
Mark Hughes will need this win to relieve some pressure and avoid falling into the bottom three while Pardew will hope to pick up at least a point on the road. This should be a less than entertaining game that Stoke should edge.
Swansea City vs Crystal Palace
A Swansea team with club legend Leon Britton in charge as caretaker manager will face a rejuvenated Crystal Palace at home. The Welsh club will need this win to prevent the gap in the cellar position widening while Palace will seek to avoid the bottom three as best as they can. The Swans with a point to prove should edge this fixture.
West Ham vs Newcastle
The Hammer will be chomping at the bit for this fixture as they face a Newcastle side that seems to be going only one way but down. A victory for David Moyes‘ men will see them escaping the drop zone healthily. Rafa will hope for a point but in all likelihood will leave London empty-handed.
Burnley vs Tottenham
Spurs will seek to switch positions with this season’s surprise package Burnley and re-enter the top six. Spurs should edge a resilient Burnley come full time.
Leicester vs Manchester United
Puel’s side has been in good form since being in charge but for the surprise loss last weekend to Palace. They now face a Manchester United side that will be seeking to rebound from their midweek surprise cup loss to Bristol City. United should edge a hard-fought game at the King Power.
