Liverpool vs. Manchester United
This is the fixture of the season so far. Liverpool is normally free-scoring, but will be without arguably their most potent attacking threat, Sadio Mané, for six weeks. United so far seems a well drilled unit and seem very good in all areas. Liverpool will likely unravel while United take this one in the end.
Manchester City vs. Stoke City
Stoke City has the most Champions League winners in their ranks of all the teams in the BPL. However, they are playing and getting results of Championship winners. A flamboyant and exciting City team should put them away comfortably.
Tottenham vs. Bournemouth
Spurs will seek to exorcise their Wembley hoodoo in the league and should do so in style against Eddie Howe’s struggling south coast men. Fresh from leading his country to the World Cup, Harry Kane will see this contest as a celebration.
Burnley vs West Ham
On paper these are two evenly match mid-table teams. Burnley hasn’t had the best home start to the season and West Ham is seeking to get their season on track. A point each should be the result at full time.
Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea
Already fighting relegation, Palace will face a Chelsea team looking to rebound after their defeat at home to Man City. Despite being without Alvaro Morata, this tie shouldn’t need him as Michy Batshuayi should be able to handle these opponents if given the chance to lead the line. At full time, Palace should still be seeking their first league goal and point of the season.
Swansea City vs Huddersfield
The Swans have been as inconsistent this season as a mid-table type team can be. Huddersfield has held their own, despite getting their first clobbering of the season last time out against Tottenham. They will bounce back and clip the Swans in Wales.
Watford vs Arsenal
This should be the mid-table contender Arsenal struggles against. Apart from the City hammering, Marco Silva has Watford playing a decent brand of football that can trouble a very good team on their day. This Arsenal team, without injured defender Skhodran Mustafi for at least six weeks, will struggle and consider themselves lucky to leave with a point.
Brighton vs Everton
Brighton will seek to go at a struggling Everton team. This fixture may confirm the sacking of Ronald Koeman as his mismatched outfit will likely suffer another road loss.
Southampton vs Newcastle
Newcastle has been a resilient team so far this season under Rafa Benitez. They will bring their fight to a Southampton team finding life in front of goal very difficult, and should not leave the south coast empty-handed.
Leicester City vs West Brom
Leicester have struggled at home so far this season, albeit against some difficult opponents. But in this Monday night mid-table clash, armed with a bit more class, the Foxes should prevail.
A round-up of Ryan’s week 8 picks. Good luck!
