After breaking through to the Arsenal first team at only 17 years old, Serge Gnabry looked set to be a bright star for the club and Germany’s national team.

With a handful of stellar performances to his name, many were ready to see the German push stars like Theo Walcott out of the Arsenal starting 11. However after serious injuries and an awful season on loan at West Brom, Gnabry’s light started to dim as he was nearing the last year of his Arsenal contract.

The young Germany was able to put on a show in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, being named the best player of the tournament and finished top goal scorer. This attracted interest from multiple clubs and pushed Arsenal to try and renew his contract. However, Gnabry saw his development away from The Emirates and Werder Bremen quickly sealed his signature. At the Weser Stadion, his career was finally able to get under way as many expected.

He utilises his pace off the shoulders of defenders to get into the positions to score, which is by no means a bad thing, but will not see him ascend quickly up the pecking order at Bayern any time soon.

Speculation arose about the transfer though, with reports stating Bayern Munich funded the transfer to Bremen with the option to have Gnabry join upon their calling. This happened to be the case with Serge, paying off his contract and joining the Bavarian giants after a relatively successful 2016-2017 league campaign.
