Tottenham vs Sunderland
Can Defoe hurt his former team after an impressive mid-week hat-trick that led Sunderland to a 4-2 victory over Swansea?Relegation battling Sunderland takes on Champions League aspirant Tottenham in the early game and I am expecting Spurs to react based on that 1-0 loss to Leicester with a home victory.
Bournemouth vs Norwich
Both teams are just above the relegation zone and are fighting to stay above the relegation zone. Norwich’s form away is poor so I am expecting the home team to pick up a victory.
N.B. Norwich are unbeaten against Bournemouth in the last 5 meetings
Chelsea vs Everton
Chelsea are coming off a disappointing mid-week draw to West Brom but let’s face it, they do look a better team under Hiddink and it’s a different atmosphere at Stamford Bridge. Everton was lucky mid-week and had to thank the impressive 36 year old Tim Howard for that 0-0 draw with Manchester City. I don’t think they will be lucky when they come up against the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City vs Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have a pretty decent away record and have picked up more away points than home points so far this season but they come up against the best home team this season. Both teams should be dissapointed with their mid-week result but I am expecting Pellegrini’s men to get the job done at home.
Newcastle vs West Ham
I will be making this prediction based on form and give The Hammers victory. Steve McClaren’s men are struggling and are in the relegation zone and with the impressive Payet back from injury pulling the strings for West Ham it is difficult to bet against them.
Southampton vs West Brom
Aston Villa vs Leicester City
Bottom of the table takes on high flying Leicester City at home. Very few would expect Claudio Raneiri’s men to be where they now but they are contenders for a top four finish this season. It would be unwise to bet against Leicester City and I am giving them the victory in this one.
Liverpool vs Manchester United
The two most decorated clubs in the English top flight come face to face in what should be the game of the weekend. Van Gaal is under pressure to get Man United back in the top four while Klopp is looking to climb up the table. Liverpool came out the blocks firing against Arsenal taking the lead twice before settling for a 3-3 draw courtesy of a Joe Allen 88th min goal. I don’t see Van Gaal going on the attack which could be quite different from how Liverpool approach this game.
Stoke vs Arsenal
Top of the table Arsenal faces a tricky test at the Britannia. Stoke have beaten the Gunners the last two times at home and are unbeaten in their last five home games against Arsenal. If Arsenal wants to be champions they need to get a result.
